Ancestry world explorer review1/27/2024 ![]() They then try offering me new kits and membership again I just wanted my money back they processed my refund and said it would take 5-10 business days. I wanted the money back because it came out of my account. Talked to a supervisor and said they didn't receive the money after that I was livid so I had it out with them. We had nothing but issues with this place, if we talked to them several times prior and didn't tell us the first few times the order wasnt processed due to the funds which again isn't true because the money was out of our possession why is it now been over 3 weeks and you are barley saying this. We didn't receive any kits so called one last time, they told us they never received the funds and was unable to process the order. We called several times saying if we didn't receive it that day they would send new ones. The shipping said the same things everyday it would be here at 7pm. We ordered our kits and they says they would be here in 7-10 business days. The system needs to be setup to merge the duplicates. I had a grandfather that I had to scroll through six pages just to get the next person. There is way too many dates listed for each event (mostly marriages) and a lot are duplicates. It's almost impossible to find a correct date unless you actually research. Then of course, this gets copied by someone else and so forth Names of parents do not match or are entered incorrectly, example Smithe vs Smith, then someone will make it look okay will change the name to suit their family tree instead of finding the correct information. Then unfortunately this information gets used over and over again down other's family trees. Someone entered a married name for a wife instead of the madden names, so the computer picks up the married name to find the parents, then the information is incorrect. The issue is that the computer can only pick out information if it's entered accurately but since any user can enter or use the information there are some glitches. ![]() The DNA matches are the best part since I have found some relatives that I didn't know. You can find some good information, but you have to be smart about it. Otherwise you'll be charged the $25 cancelation fee and the 1st month's membership. If you take the 2 week trial and want to cancel, be sure to do it prior to 2 days before the end of the trial. Cancelations will cost you $25 unless you wait to cancel at the end of your subscription. That's when it maybe time to take a break and cancel your subscription for awhile. There is only so much out there on your family. That said however, it will eventually get harder and harder to find new available sources of info. As the volume of data in your tree grows, the quality of your hints and your search results will improve. ![]() So be sure to back any info you may find on other member's trees with a reliable source.Īs for the high cost of a subscription well, Ancestry is a tool. ![]() Any mistakes in those trees are then repeated over and over again. My only complaint is how many ancestry members just copy other member's trees without doing the research. Their data base is far larger then any other family search site and with less useless gimmicks. They've helped me build a tree of over 2000. I've had a membership off and on with Ancestry for over 10 years.
